The Dragonspear Vale

This well forested vale is nestled between the Dragonspear Ridge (to its north), from which it derives its name, and the Stonewall Mountains (to its west and south). To this day (1396 A.R.), the Dragonspear Vale remains essentially unsettled and mostly wild. The only notable exception to this is the small walled city of Lakefar (founded: 1217 A.R.) on the shores of the Dragon Lake, which trades actively with the Middle Azure Coast and the nations and cities that lie directly east of the great Azure River (this river also forms a natural border to the east of the vale). Lakefar is ruled currently by a reputably powerful enchantress known only as the Archemar. Lakefar is a rather quiet fishing/farming community - consequently, good (e.g. Agrah, Lharishar, Sorune, Ukkor, etc.), lawful (e.g. Codan, Odan, etc.) and neutral (e.g. Lugath, Chloros, Erond, Hurme, etc.) powers are worshiped in the city and its whereabouts. Incidentally, perhaps because of its ruler, the worship of Lore (God of knowledge, science and magic) and Dweore (Goddess of enchantments and magic) have been on the rise of late.

Of note are the Wyrmwoods, a large stretch of forest that lie between the Dragon Lake, its tributaries and the Dragonspear Ridge, which are reputed to often harbor dragons of green, black, brown and/or emerald colors.

Also of interest is the reported existence of ancient ruins belonging to the near-mythical Shandyr civilization (of the Age of Wonders, and which fell c.a. -20000 A.R. in the aftermath of the fabled War of Light and Darkness) somewhere along the northern shores of the Dragon Lake, suggesting that the vale was once fully settled in those ancient times.

The Dragonspear Vale constitutes a part of the adventuring locale in the scenario Dragon of Death.
