The Ridge Plateau
This vast forested wilderness lies between the Coast Ridge Mountains (south and west), the Range Tower Mountains (north) and the Stonewall Mountains (south and east) and is featured by a large body of fesh water named High Lake at its center. This plateau of wilderness is accessible through the Spine Pass between the Coast Ridge Mountains and the Stonewall Mountains, and which is guarded by the Spear Towers manned by Southgate and Oaklarand. The Ridge Plateau is known to be populated by all sorts of humanoid creatures, such as giants, orcs, ogres, goblins, etc..
Of interest is this area was discovered and mapped by the legendary explorer Jesper Farwalker, under commission of king Vyros II (of the old Shaanite dynasty) of Southgate, throughout a nine year-long expedition (from -20 to -11 A.R.). The explorer reported the existence of ancient ruins belonging to the near-mythical Shandyr civilization (of the Age of Wonders, and which fell c.a. -20000 A.R. in the aftermath of the fabled War of Light and Darkness) on the shores of the High Lake, as well as two megalitic statues lying on each side of an ancient portal on the far eastern end of the plateau, and which he named the Twin Stone Guardians. Some years later (i.e. -5 A.R.), Jesper Farwalker returned to the Ridge Plateau to further explore the ruins and the statues - but was never heard from again.
The Ridge Plateau constitutes a part of the adventuring locale in the scenario Dead of Night.
