Nation of Yzunia
Not all of the empire of Lankharh dissolved or disintegrated when it fell at the end of the War of the Mind Lords, c.a. -10000 A.R. Even despite the exodus of all psionic-endowed ("true blood") lankharhans to a land far north and east they called Keryndhor, some of those non-psionic humans who were left behind in the fragmenting and crumbling empire managed to stave off anarchy and barbarism, holding on to sizeable pockets of civilization few and far between, thus giving birth to new nations. Yzunia is one such sibling of the defunct lankharhan empire, having been proclaimed about the time of the fall of Lankharh, and consequently one of the oldest nations on Anarym.
For most of its 11000+ years of existence, ancient Yzunia has ever remained secretive and mysterious, highly isolationist and non-interfering, much like its "sister" nations of Anuria (to its north), Estharym (to its north-east) and Alander (to its east), entertaining close relations only with them. Like those same ancient nations, Yzunia was said to be idyllic, peaceful and bountiful, ruled by near-immortal kings and queens, and where every citizen was immune to disease and enjoyed a comfortable life free of toils. Its capital, Yzun, is suspected of being more than fifteen millennia old, having been founded presumably during the times of the empire of Telluria (c.a. -14000 A.R.). Yzunian cities, such as Yzun, were said to be magnificent and majestic, filled with towers of glass and metal that touched the sky, their glowing lights shining brighter than even the stars themselves. Also like Anuria, Estharym and Alander, Yzunia is a "super-power" that has always possessed the knowledge of dangerous technomagic sciences and devices from the long lost times of the lankharhan empire, if not of the more older times of Telluria as well, knowledge which remains protectively guarded to this day.
However, some thirty years ago (i.e. 1364 A.R.), a powerful individual (or perhaps even a being) somehow swiftly seized power in Yzunia, much to the surprise and shock of all - including the yzunians themselves. All that is known of this man is that he calls himself Zerackuur the Tellurian (probably indicating a direct descent from tellurian blood) and he commands a sizeable army of demons. Upon seizing power, he proclaimed himself as Dread Lord, opened the western border of Yzunia to hordes of humanoids from the Marches of the Beastmen (many of which he seems to command as well), put to death all of the yzunian royalty and enslaved all yzunians. Threatening to unleash the devastating technomagic armament of Yzunia that he had just taken possession of, Yzunia's sister nations were thus prevented from moving against the Dread Lord.
Since the ascension of the Dread Lord, Yzunia has become a focal point of evil in the region. Its once lush and fertile lands are now bleak and dreary, continually patrolled by orcs, ogres and demons, led by dark knights and warlocks. Yzunia's once proud and majestic cities are now nothing but broken walls and twisted metal scraps littered with glass shards, rubble of all sorts and the rotting bones of the countless dead. The everyday life for an yzunian is either that of forced conscription into the Dread Lord's armies, harsh slavery, or be a "play-thing" for the loyal servants of the Dread Lord, before being sacrificed to dark powers or becoming food for humanoids and demons.
Having openly declared its designs for expansion, the neighboring "younger" nations are now watching warily Yzunia, fearing the worst. Thankfully, Anuria, Estharym and Alander have constituted a common front to keep Yzunia in check, forcing the Dread Lord to caution in any move he would seek to make, including the use of his acquired technomagic weaponry. But for how long will Yzunia refrain from unleashing its might remains an open question - and no one dares to speculate on the devastating consequences should the Dread Lord march forth, thus forcing Anuria, Estharym and Alander to use their own technomagic weaponry in retalliation.
Yzunia is yet to constitute a part of the adventuring locale of a Realmz scenario.
