"Me tell ye, whot with them trade caravan attacks, them crazed marauders an' savages suddenly
roamin' around, and them other monsters comin' out in plain day to attack decent folks; Me tell ye
that sumptin's goin' on awright! Aye! Me even heard that vineyards be rottin' away fer no reason
back in grand ole Tanirith, while damn pirates make it impossible fer us to trade or sail our seas!
Nay, laddies ... ye believe me when me say that a dark storm be rising about our fair Sword Lands ..."
- Suhl Teros, Captain of the Tsunami
The Sword Lands consist of a vast, southern coastal area lying south and east of the Khanark Rockies. These rich and lush lands are populated by independant cities, towns, holds and villages, which are ruled by Monarchs, Warlords, Barons, Merchant Lords, or Rogue Lords of all kind and trade. Add to that the fact that this area is also populated by roaming humanoids and unruly marauders, and one begins to understand why these lands are called the Sword Lands.
At the behest of the king of Bywater, the characters journey to these lands in order to investigate the cause behind the disruption of trade between Bywater and the Sword Lands, disruptions which are begining to affect Bywater's economy severely. Indeed, the king of Bywater is suspecting that some agency, set out to ruin his beloved city, may be at work behind these disruptions.
As the characters explore the Sword Lands while investigating these matters, they gradually uncover a dark, far-reaching conspiracy which aims at nothing less than the complete conquest of the Realmz continent.
And the puppet masters behind it all are mysterious, powerful beings from the far-away continent of Anarym, and known simply as the "Overlords" ...
The scenario is a huge scenario; indeed, it includes 4 complete regular land levels, 2 sea levels, 1 mountain level, 1 snow level, 1 volcanic level, 1 sewer level, 7 indoors levels (castles, inns, shops, taverns, etc.), 3 underground levels (including 1 dwarven undercity!), and 3 dungeon levels;
Some 270 monsters (many of which are new) for 350 possible battles, along with some 60-odd new items, 14 available special characters (NPC's), some 25 major villainous personae to contend with, and countless other characters (from fishermen and bartenders to Great Kings and Queens) for the players to interact with;
The scenario has a complex plot and full story, coupled to a textured background setting (no skimming on the details!) along with rich dialogs, good drama, extended freedom of choice for the players, many riddles and puzzles to solve, etc.;
While there are numerous battles in TiSL, the overriding motus operandi of the scenario is: "Durn good brains an' a good sword required; otherwise, ye need not apply"!
And plenty more fun things to do and explore, aside from the far-reaching, main plot!
